I spend my life writing and finding the words to put into a bio like this is incredibly difficult. I'm a lawyer in Manhattan, I enjoy good books, fine wine, talented musicians, my girlfriend, and cheering for the Knicks (no matter how poorly they are doing.) I know all the rules of football, I take a damned good photograph, and the fact that I haven't been disbarred for all the stunts I've pulled is a miracle.

Alex Cabot's story is one meant for the legends of TV. Born to a prominent family in New York, she was a member of the US Ski team at Lake Placid before an injury took her out of the athletic game and put her back in school. She attended Harvard for undergrad and law school, where she was eventually the editor of the Harvard Law Review.

Shortly out of law school, Alex took a place with the county, prosecuting Special Victims cases for the NYPD. At that time she met her now partner, Olivia Benson, an officer with the squad. But life was not as simple as all that. Alex's pursuit of a drug dealer eventually landed her in the witness protection program where she found herself and her soul teaching history on the Navajo Reservation in Window Rock, Arizona. After the threat to her life was abated, Alex made the impossible decision to return to New York where eventually she and Olivia would reignite their relationship.

Alex splits her time between the SVU squad and working with a non-profit that assists rape victims in war torn areas. She has spent time in Africa and working at the Hague. Currently, she is contemplating a run for Congress.
